Hotel Saint Cecilia was originally built in 1888 as the Miller-Crockett house, and is among the five remaining Victorian homes of twelve originally built along this stretch of the Colorado River. The home was occupied by a descendant of Davy Crockett, Leslie Crockett, and his wife Mary Ann Miller for over 60 years before it was converted into a Bed & Breakfast in the mid-nineties. Bunkhouse renovated and reopened the property as Hotel Saint Cecilia in 2008. Hotel Saint Cecilia was conceived and created by Texas hotelier Liz Lambert and her team at Bunkhouse.

PROPERTY

Created in honor of the patron saint of music and poetry, the Saint Cecilia takes inspiration from the great era of the late 1960′s and early 1970′s when a revolution of rock and roll and beat poetry overran the hallowed halls of established convention. Pays tribute to the great creative legacy of revolutionary idols and to the spirit of the artist that lies within us all.

GROUNDS

Each of the five suites, six poolside bungalows, and three studios embodies an equal love for the elegance of old world luxury and the irreverence of our muses – The Stones, Bill Burroughs, Anne Sexton, Hunter S. Thompson among them. The secluded property and lush grounds are open only to hotel guests, thereby offering a unique sense of privacy situated steps away from the heart of South Austin.

LOBBY

The hotel lobby is located next to the lounge at the center of the property, and offers a variety of guest amenities and opportunities. The lobby is also home to the Saint Cecilia’s retail store, which carries a selection of items from travel necessities to souvenirs, including products by Saint Rita, Santa Maria Novella and a variety of local and international craftspeople.

POOL & ARBOR

Saint Cecilia’s crowning jewel is its 50 foot heated lap pool which is open to guests twenty four hours a day. The Saint Cecilia also offers seated poolside dining under the arbor for breakfast and light fare.

LOUNGE

The Saint Cecilia lounge lives at the center of the property and provides both indoor and outdoor seating exclusively for hotel guests and private club members. In order to preserve the intimacy and privacy of the hotel, the hotel maintains stringent hosting guidelines. Guests wishing to host non-guests in the lounge may do so in very limited numbers and only with reservations made in advance at the Front Desk.

AMENITIES

Perhaps the Saint Cecilia’s most significant offering is an exquisite night’s sleep on a handmade organic bed made by Hästens, Sweden’s most revered bedding company. Bathrooms are outfitted with custom kimono bathrobes and Le Labo bath products. The hotel offers a variety of other amenities and services to inspire and delight.

LENDING LIBRARY

All rooms and suites also offer Rega turntables and Geneva sound systems, and guests are invited to borrow from the hotel’s lending library of vintage LPs as well as a collection of rock biographies and poetry anthologies from our favorite artists.
